This is my 5’10 frame before I hit the Appalachian trail when I was living in Syracuse, New York. I was soft and weighed 189 lbs and climbing stairs could be demanding at times. For months I prepared for the Appalachian trail by doing absolutely nothing, physically or otherwise. That’s right! I did nothing more than what the weather gods allowed in Syracuse New York, which was staring at a constant stream of snow storms…. wearing a “Go Orange” sweater, of course. I was in hibernation mode, don’t judge me.
Fast forward 123 days of walking through the mountains while carrying 32-43 lbs of gear, food and water on my back daily. Now I prefer the stairs.
